48' used containers are known as domestic containers. They never leave the North American continent as their width and strength are not designed for stacking on container ships. They are used by the rail and trucking industry.

48' Domestic container - aluminum wall finish. Usually white. The interior is usually finished with a 3/8" plywood.

Benefits of a 48' container:

• Excellent for permanent on site storage
• Extra width accommodates storage of automobiles, trucks, boats etc
• Accommodates 2 / 4' pallets
• Moderates heat better due to reflective colour and dead space between inner and outer wall
• Additional 8' of storage

Drawbacks of 48' container:

• Not as tough as steel container
• Does not stand up to frequent loading and unloading from trucks
