Types of Containers

If you are looking for secure, cost effective storage solutions that can meet many needs, a storage container (marine cargo container, sea can) is an excellent choice. Shipping containers range in size from 8' all the way up to 53'. A standard unit is 8'6" tall and 8' feet wide, giving you ample space to pack your goods. The walls and roof are corrugated gauge steel. The floor is 1" 1/16 plywood with steel cross members every 12 inches. They are rated for a 22,000 psi or 24,000 psi forklift footprint. 48 Foot

48' long, 9' 6" tall, 8' 6" wide

The 48' aluminum, domestic containers have a flat smooth exterior wall - usually finished in white. The interior is typically finished with 3/16" plywood and equipped with load locks. They look very much like a truck van. The 48' steel containers have a corrugated steel wall and look like a typical marine cargo container.

Benefits of a 48' container:

Excellent for permanent on site storage
Extra width accommodates storage of automobiles, trucks, boats etc.
Accommodates 2' / 4' pallets
Moderates heat better due to reflective colour and dead space between inner and outer wall
Additional 8' of storage

Drawbacks of a 48' aluminum container:

Not as tough as steel container
Does not stand up to frequent loading and unloading from trucks
